Unite the Union have organised a protest , about Winter Fuel Allowance , outside the Headquarter of the Department for Communities , Causeway Exchange , 1-9 Bedford Street , Belfast @ 2.00pm on Thursday 27th February. They have sought the support of other Trade Unions & Pensioner Organisations.
We in CSPA NI have strongly supported protests against the Labour Governments withdrawal of the Winter Fuel Allowance from Pensioners across the UK. This is a devolved issue & in Northern Ireland this falls to DfC to deal with. The DfC Minister Gordon Lyons MLA has said Northern Ireland Pensioners will receive a one-off payment of £100 but not before March 2025 at the earliest.
We would encourage members to support this protest if they can.
