Claire Sugden Independent MLA & Chair of the All Party Group for Older People in the Northern Ireland Assembly has launched a Public Consultation on Legislation to tackle Age Discrimination in Goods and Services.
Claire called it a crucial step in recognising the value of older people and closing a longstanding gap in Northern Ireland Equality Laws. CSPA NI welcomed this.
“We , alongside other allies in the pensioner movement, have been calling for such action for many years. Indeed a motion to that effect was carried unanimously at the 2022 CSPA AGM. “ Northern Ireland remains the only area of the UK or Republic of Ireland that allies older people to be discriminated against. Such legislation would close this injustice.
